Dear Parent(s)/Guardians(s) and Students:
It is hard to believe, but another week is in the books, drawing us closer to the end of September and our first full month of school. Though this week was not packed full of exciting events, it was another week of great faith and educational value for our students and instruction and leadership from our staff. However, next week brings a number of activities and events to our Blue Family, including Freshman and Sophomore Retreats, the Rotary Senior Walking Tour of Delphos, Seniors Taking an ACT here at school, and the beginning of our Festival Dinner Ticket Sales. What a great time to be a Blue Jay.
We are blessed and honored this week to welcome back Alum (Class of 1998) Paul Krendl, the world traveling Illusionist, known as Krendl. Anytime we have an opportunity to welcome back Alumni and share with our students that working to achieve your dreams can be a reality, is a learning tool that cannot be replicated in the classroom. Krendl is in town to perform two shows on October 2, sponsored by the Optimist Club. More details are attached below.
A few of the items below and future schedule reminders, Class Retreats, Notes from Nurse Jean, Senior Walking Tour, Prayer Group, College Financial Aid, Food Drive, Mission Society Fundraiser, and Homecoming.

On Monday the 26 the Freshman will be participating in their Retreat
On Tuesday the 27 the Sophomores will be participating in their Retreat
Both will be conducting by the National Evangelical Team (NET Team)
The Class Retreats are a time for the students to take a step back from the grind of school and share witness talks, come closer to God, and each other.
As a reminder to the Freshman and Sophomores, you will need to pack your lunch and bring a drink for your Retreat.
A big thank you to those of you that are bringing a lunch for the NET Team members. The service they provide to us is invaluable, and your generosity in helping to provide them a lunch on that day is greatly appreciated.
Senior Walking Tour of Delphos
The Annual Senior Walking Tour of Delphos will be taking place on September 28, and you are invited to attend if you would like and/or available. This will be an opportunity to learn a little more about the history of Delphos, while spending a little time with Seniors from both Schools. If you are interested in taking part in this walking tour, please contact…

Food Drive at the Football Game
The Basement Doctor is hosting their annual food drive at Saturday night’s game to offer students and fans the opportunity to donate non-perishable food items or a monetary donation to the West Ohio Food Bank.
Your help is greatly appreciated to help those in need.
Notes from Nurse Jean
Just a reminder that the policy for St. John’s is that students may return from an illness after they have been 24 hours free of vomiting, diarrhea, or elevated temperature. Please keep this in mind before sending your child back to school. We have had several cases of gastroenteritis, which includes vomiting and diarrhea. If they return too soon, reoccurrence of symptoms and increase risk of spread of the virus through the school occurs. We ask you please make sure your children are recovered completely before returning them to school.
Empowered Through Prayer
Let us enrich our own prayer life as well as others by sharing how we pray as well as learning new ways to pray. Through this new ministry may we also come to feel empowered to make a difference in the world around us knowing who it is that gives us that courage and strength. If interested please contact Mary Lou Pohlman at 419-303-8019 or email firstname.lastname@example.org. Be prepared to give available days and times so that a time can be worked for everyone interested.
Financial Aid Meeting
A financial aid meeting has been scheduled for Monday, October 10, at 7:00 PM in the Delphos Jefferson Senior High School cafeteria. This program is sponsored by the Delphos St. John’s and Jefferson guidance departments and will feature Mr. Chris Fowler, Director of Financial Aid at Bluffton University. Mr. Fowler will explain the college financial aid process and how to fill out the various financial aid forms for all parents no matter where your child plans to attend college. Financial Aid is constantly changing. Mr. Fowler will be discussing all of the changes in financial aid, as well as how to complete the FAFSA, for the 2017-18 school year. This program will be especially helpful for parents of seniors who will be attending college in the fall of 2017.
The Homecoming Guidelines have not changed from last year. The U.S. Bishops state that “as Christians we should dress in a modest manner, wearing clothing that reflect our reverence for God and that manifest our respect for the dignity of the liturgy and for one another.” I do wish that you exercise modesty and sound judgments as you shop for dresses, this summer and fall. I understand the challenges we face, adhering to our Catholic Faith while trying to shop in an environment that does not always share our beliefs. However, know that your help is greatly appreciated in supporting the message that we work to accomplish together each day.
Mission Society Fundraiser
Mission Society will be selling spirit wear to benefit their trip to Appalachia this year. Order forms have been sent home with students today or you can pick up an order form in the high school office. All orders must be turned in by September 30!! Thank you for supporting our mission!!
Good luck to all the St. John’s students, that are competing this weekend in one way or another, bring home a win, as you have already made the Blue Family so proud of you.
Go Jays and God Bless,
