May 18th Newsletter

Good Afternoon Parent(s)/Guardians(s) and Students:

As we end the 2017-18 School Year next Thursday, we want to recognize our Seniors and all they have done for our parish, school, and students.  They have been a great example for the Underclassmen of how a class with unique and different personalities can come together and support one another, in order to accomplish their goals.

These Seniors were able to celebrate some of their last moments together this past week, at their Senior Retreat, Graduation Practice, and Senior Awards, with Sunday marking the last time they will all be together as a class.  Once Graduation has concluded, each of them will begin to go their separate ways and begin a new chapter in their lives.

To the Class of 2018 – We wish each and every one of you the best as you continue on your journey through life, but want you to remember that Once a Blue Jay Always a Blue Jay.  Should you need anything we are here for you.  Congratulations Class of 2018.

Thank you again for all your help and support and have a great weekend.  Should you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask, we are here to help.

The next Newsletter will go out on May 31.

March 12 Newsletter

Good Afternoon Parent(s)/Guardians(s) and Students:

We hope all of you are doing well and bearing with our winter weather.  It is hard to believe that we are about halfway through March, but with this also comes the prospects of Spring and Easter in a few weeks.

As always, thank you again for your support of our Catholic Schools and the ability to move beyond the classroom and academics, in offering an education unique to our students.

From all of us in the Junior High and High School we would like to congratulate our 8th Grade students as they completed their Confirmation yesterday.  The Sacrament of Confirmation builds on the Sacraments of Baptism, Penance, and Holy Communion, and completes the process of initiation into the Catholic Church.  It establishes young adults as full-fledged members of the faith, confirming and strengthening the faith bestowed in Baptism.  Being confirmed means accepting responsibility for your faith and destiny.  This signifies that as a young adult one must do what is morally correct, not for the recognition or reward, but merely because it is the right thing to do.  Congratulations to each of you.

We would like to congratulate all of our Winter Sports/Extra-Curricular coaches, advisors, and participants on great seasons.

Should you have any questions please let us know.

The next Newsletter will go out on March 26.

Febraury 13 Newsletter

Good Morning Parent(s)/Guardians(s) and Students:

We hope all of you are doing well and bearing with our winter weather.  It is hard to believe that we are about halfway through February, but with this also comes the beginning of Lent with Ash Wednesday tomorrow.  Lent provides us a time for prayer and sacrifices as a school, student body, and faculty.  To build and strengthen our relationship with Christ.  Thank you again for your support of our Catholic Schools and the ability to move beyond the classroom and academics, in offering an education unique to our students.

A big thank you to everyone who helped to make Rise Against Hunger such a successful event this past Sunday.  What an amazing turnout from the Blue Jay Family and Delphos Community.

Congratulation to Abby Bonifas who has earned her way to one of the State of Ohio winners in the Americanism and Government program, offered to students throughout the United States.  Abby has been invited to the American Legion Department of Ohio headquarters on February 24, for an orientation meeting.  During this time, students, and parents will learn more about the exciting trip to Washington D.C., Gettysburg, and the Flight 93 Memorial.  Congratulations to Abby, this is an amazing accomplishment.

Congratulations to Reagan Clarkson, our Optimist Student of Month for February, and the Sophomore Class.  Throughout this year, Reagan has exhibited the qualities necessary to earn this award, whether it is through her academic achievement, participation in extra-curricular activities, her willingness to volunteer at organizations outside of school, or her willingness to help staff or students.  Reagan exemplifies what it means to be the Optimist Student of the Month and will be recognized this Friday.

Should you have any questions, about anything, please let us know.

The next Newsletter will go out on February 26.

Thank you to those who have already volunteered to help with the Junior Mulch Sale, however, we are still looking for some help.  Post Prom will be held at the Bowling Alley on May 12 starting at 10:30 PM.  Listed below are the various committees, but where most of the help is needed is in the delivering of the mulch, as this is how Post Prom is funded and any money left over goes towards helping to cover the cost of the Class Trip.

The following are the committees that still need help…

Mulch – People to help deliver the mulch

Prizes – 1 chairperson and 3 people to help

Mass/Thank you/Poster – 2 people to help

Valet Parking – 2 to 3 fathers to help

There will be a Junior Post Prom Parent Meeting on Wednesday, January 31 at 7:00 PM in Study Hall (East Room).  Thank you for attending.

If you could help in any way or have any questions, please let us know what committee you would like to be placed on and if you would want to be in charge of a committee.  We can be reached at paula@delphosstjohns.org or by texting/calling 419-204-0590.
