October 3rd Newsletter

Dear Parents(s)/Guardian(s):

As we approach a very special weekend for the St. John’s Family, I would first like to extend my congratulations to Queen Alyssa Martin and her Court. These students are a fine example of the values we hold dear and wonderful representatives of St. John’s. Homecoming weekend is an opportunity to welcome back Alumni from all corners of the world, and to celebrate what so many of us hold dear to our hearts, the St. John’s Parish and School. Whether you are an Alumni or simply a supporter of the St. John’s Community, thank you for all you do to make St. John’s a special place for our students, staff, families, and Alumni far and wide.

7th and 8th Grade MAP Testing
The 7th and 8th Grade Students began their testing, to replace the Scantron this week, referred to as MAP (Measures of Academic Progress). This test is solely computer based, and adopts to the student’s ability as they answer questions, to test the student past simply their grade level, and look at their overall ability. Tests in Reading, Language Usage, Mathematics, and Science are being given to the students this week and into next. The data from the test results will benefit our teachers and students, in providing instruction in these areas, to help those that may be struggling, challenge those that may be advanced, and continue to push those that are working at their current mastery level.
