It is hard to believe, but this coming week is Festival Week. I want to extend a thank you to you the parents, the students, the grandparents, neighbors, alumni, and everyone in between. The reason we continue to succeed as a Parish and School is the hard work, dedication, and the giving of your personal time. I cannot say it enough; St. John’s is a special place, thanks to all of you.
Festival Tickets Sales
Your Junior High/High School Student(s) is currently in possession of an envelope that entitles them to sell as many Festival Dinners as possible. If they have not yet approached you about purchasing tickets for yourself, your family, your neighbors, or even for the Monday after Festival please be sure to give them a friendly reminder to sell a few here or there, or a lot over the course of next week. We all know how important this next weekend is to our Parish; please encourage the selling of those tickets to earn the incentives that are being earned by our Junior High/High School students, such as extra hall passes, jean days, SCRIP Cards, and the like.
7th and 8th Grade MAP Testing
The 7th and 8th Grade Students began their testing, to replace the Scantron this week, referred to as MAP (Measures of Academic Progress). This test is solely computer based, and adopts to the student’s ability as they answer questions, to test the student past simply their grade level, and look at their overall ability. Tests in Reading, Language Usage, Mathematics, and Science are being given to the students this week and into next. The data from the test results will benefit our teachers and students, in providing instruction in these areas, to help those that may be struggling, challenge those that may be advanced, and continue to push those that are working at their current mastery level. Some of you may or may not be aware of this amazing way to purchase and utilize SCRIP on the go. However, I am including the website – https://www.shopwithscrip.com/ and our SCRIP Enrollment Code – 2LFE673218711, to help you take advantage of this service. By registering, you will be able to purchase SCRIP over your phone or device and utilize it almost immediately. As we all know, we have been in that situation, where we wish we had a SCRIP Card for a purchase, this service takes care of that worry. I hope it is something that you can utilize.
7th and 8th Grade Children’s Festival
On Wednesday, October 15th, the Children’s Festival will be taking place. The 7th and 8th Grade Students will be able to participate, as it will also be a Jean Day for them. We ask that the students wear Jeans and a St. John’s Shirt/Sweatshirt, per the Student Handbook. The 7th and 8th Grade will be participating in the Children’s Festival from 12:30 to 2:00. At 2:00 the 7th and 8th Grade Students will be dismissed for the day. If they do not have transportation, they will be able to wait at school until their usual dismissal time. If for some reason school would be delayed or cancelled on Wednesday, the 15th, the Children’s Festival will still be held.

Students Working Next Week for Festival Set-Up
Next week our Seniors will be out of class a few days to help set-up for the Children’s and Church Festival. Our Juniors will also be out one day to help prepare food for the meals next weekend. I cannot express to you how grateful we are to their willingness, desire, and dedication to help ensure the Festival is a success. Without their help we would not have such an amazing and enjoyable time at our Parish.
Good luck to all the St. John Students that are competing this weekend in one way or another, bring home a win, as we are, Blue Jays.
Have a wonderful weekend.
Go Jays and God Bless,
