Dear Parent(s) and/or Guardian(s):
It was a very subdued yet eventful week here in the Junior High/High School. The students participated in Picture Day on Tuesday, celebrated Constitution Day on Thursday, Jostens spoke with the Seniors about Graduation and the rest of the student body about class rings on Friday, along with the 7th graders having a Jean Day compliments of Chuck and Sue Hempfling and the Benefit Auction.
However, this might have been a perfect segue, as next week will bring about a number of activities and happenings, as we celebrate Queen Lexi Hays and her Court, during Homecoming Week. This weekend is an opportunity to welcome back Alumni from all corners of the world, and to celebrate what so many of us hold dear to our hearts, the St. John’s Parish and School. Whether you are an Alumni or simply a supporter of the St. John’s Community, thank you for all you do to make St. John’s a special place for our students, staff, families, and Alumni far and wide.
Below is a little information about the Food Drive and 2005 Football Recognition Tonight, T-Shirt Fundraisers, Homecoming Information, a College Fair, and the Traveling Rosary.

Several of the Van Wert County schools are sponsoring a College Fair conducted at Vantage Career Center on September 23rd from 6:30-8:00pm. Over 60 Ohio colleges and universities will be represented. This can be a great opportunity for Juniors and Seniors and their parents to explore, ask questions and gather information from the various colleges. It is not required that you come at 6:30 and stay until 8:00. You are welcome to arrive at any time and spend as much, or as little, time as you wish.
If you have any questions please contact Mr. Unterbrink.
Seniors Taking the ACT
Seniors will have an opportunity to take the ACT here at school on September 29th in the morning. This is optional, but if they are interested they have received registration information to complete, in order to secure a test.
This is a great chance for the students to take the exam in a familiar environment, on a routine day. If your son or daughter is interested please have them contact Mr. Unterbrink.
Bishop Daniel Thomas is asking every member of the Diocese to pray the rosary every day during the 54-day novena (Aug. 15-Oct. 7) for the intention of holy marriages and holy families.
One way the novena will be prayed in the Diocese of Toledo is with a “Bishop’s Traveling Rosary,” which is to make its way through the 19 counties of the entire diocese, visiting a different Catholic church/school each day. There, the rosary is to be prayed by the entire church/school community together.
Our opportunity to participate will take place on September 27th and 28th. On the 27th the K of C will be hosting a Praying of the Rosary at Church starting at 2:00, all are welcome to attend. On the 28th, the entire school (K to 12) will be Praying the Rosary at the start of school. What a wonderful opportunity to come together as a parish and school and pray for marriages and families.
