November 13th Newsletter

Dear Parent(s)/Guardians(s) and Students:
It felt good to get back to a bit of a “normal” routine here around school this week.  Knowing with the holidays quickly approaching, that routine will not last long.  This week the 7th Graders conducted their Retreat at St. Charles, the 8th Grade toured Vantage Career Center, and Father George blessed the new Class Rings.  It is pretty special to know that we can take a tradition like a Class Ring and put a spiritual touch to it with a blessing from our clergy, something most schools cannot do.

A congratulations goes out to our Voice of Democracy winner, Connor Hesseling and Patriots Pen winners, 1st place Hannah Elwer, 2nd place Jill Gemmer, and 3rd place Paige Kline.  Congratulations on your great accomplishment.

The winners and families will be attending a dinner on December 12th and reading their speeches.  The speeches will be sent on to districts for judging.

At the end of the First Quarter we also had the opportunity to recognize a few students for their accomplishments.  The Junior High/High School Honor Roll for the First Quarter, includes 16 students who earned a 4.0, 92 students earned between a 3.5 and 3.99, and 79 Students earned between a 3.00 and 3.49.  185 Students earned the Honor Roll for the First Quarter.  Congratulations to those students and good luck to those that have an opportunity this Second Quarter.
We also had 72 students that achieved Perfect Attendance for the First Quarter.  Meaning they did not miss a minute of school for any non-school related activities or family emergencies.  A pretty amazing feat.  Congratulations to those students, as they received a Subway Gift Card for coming to school.

Below is a little information about the Second Street Crosswalk, Grade Cards, Food Drive, Clothing Drive, Financial Aid Night, Scholarship Opportunity, Spirit Wear Sale, Movie Night, and a Job Opening.

Weekly Calendar

Second Street Entrance Crosswalk

At this time we are asking all students and parents not to use the Second Street Crosswalk across from Hickey-Morris Insurance, to begin to use the Crosswalks to the East End Entrance of the Junior High/High School or at the corner of Second and Pierce Streets, if crossing Second Street.  (from the second street doors of the Junior High/High School to the alley) Due to the inability to monitor this Crosswalk before and after school we would like to ensure the safety of our students by having them use a Crosswalk that is visibly marked with a light and a monitor available.

If you are picking your student up on the school side of the street, at this Crosswalk, please continue to do so.  This change is for those that use the Crosswalk to cross the street.  Should you have any questions please let us know.  Thank you for your understanding as we look to secure the safety of your son or daughter.

Grade Cards

We knew with the late start to the school year, pushing the end of the quarter closer to Parent-Teacher Conferences, mailing the grade grades would not be an exact science.  We were hoping they would reach the parents Wednesday, but did not until Thursday or Friday in some cases.  We are in contact with the Public School concerning the school calendar and looking to avoid this situation in the future.  Sorry for any inconvenience, but please feel free to contact your student’s teacher at any time to discuss your child’s progress in class.

Scholarship Opportunity
The Northwest Ohio Scholarship Fund is available to private school families from grades K to 8.  Attached below is an information sheet and application that could qualify you for up to 75% of your tuition or a maximum of $1,500.

Please take a look to see if you qualify, it never hurts to try.
