Dear Parent(s)/Guardians(s) and Students:
Happy New Year and we hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas with their family and friends. As we begin to get back into the school routine, we cannot help to think where did the first four months of the school year go, and can only imagine how fast the last five months will be. However, let us not get ahead of ourselves and still enjoy what lies ahead.
In the coming the months we will celebrate Catholic Schools Week, wish our students going on the March for Life a safe and meaningful trip, take Mid-Terms, and audition for the School Musical. Those are just a few of the items taking place in January and February.
Below is a little information about Local Scholarship Opportunities, a Tuition Scholarship Opportunity, Youth Group, K-9 Search, Employment Opportunity, First Street Bridge, Ministry Scheduler Pro, and Prom.

Reminder – School will not be in session on January 15th due to Teacher In-Service and again on January 18th to celebrate Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.
On Wednesday, the Delphos Police Department and Allen County Sherriff’s Department conducted a surprise K-9 Search of our building and grounds, for the safety of our students in regards to illegal substances on our campus. Though these searches may not be popular, they are necessary, to maintain the safety of all students. I do not know when we will have another search, but we need to ensure that our students are not exposed to these potential dangers while at the safe environment school should present.
We thank you for your understanding, cooperation, and support of keeping our school free from illegal substances.
Mr. Unterbrink would like all Seniors and their parents to be attentive to the attached list of local scholarships. The majority of these scholarships have deadlines in the spring of the year. For nearly all of these scholarships, Mr. Unterbrink has yet to receive this year’s application. Upon receipt of each of these scholarship applications, Mr. Unterbrink will be announcing them, and the criteria required to the Seniors during school.

Please take an opportunity to look them over and help support our position of creating an atmosphere that lives up to the Catholic Values and Beliefs we try to instill in our students on a daily basis. If you have any questions regarding the Policy, please let me know. These will also be going home with your son or daughter’s grade card if they are a Junior or Senior.
First Street Bridge Work
The City of Delphos, ODOT, and the Gas Company have concerns and have inspected the bridge that covers Flat Fork Creek on First Street south of the elementary school building.
The gas company will be here the week of January 11th to disconnect gas service to the gas line beside the headwall that crosses the creek. This process is expected to last one or two days. There will be a backhoe and dump trucks around the working area.
When completed, the city maintenance department will fill the working area with stone and the area where high water has washed out some of the road/creek bank. They will also install guardrails around the bridge area where parking and driving occurs. We are expecting to lose five feet of the south (heading east) lane of the road in addition to one or two parking spots on each side of the creek. We have measured it out, and we do not foresee this interrupting our drop off or pick up procedures. We will monitor this very closely next week.
The guardrail will remain in place until the bridge work is completed which is not expected to happen until 2019.
Thank you for your understanding as we work through this process to ensure the safety of our students and visitors.
