Dear Parent(s)/Guardians(s) and Students:
This Newsletter is extensive, with a number of attachments, so I will be brief in my opening.
With the beginning of next week, we will begin the Second Semester and Third Quarter. Mid-Terms are completed and will be moving on to a calmer week, at least, we hope. Grade Cards will be going out next week, and will include a few other important items for your information.
As you know due to the Blizzard Watch/Warning that has been issued for Washington D.C. this weekend, we will not be attending the March for Life. The safety of our students and staff is our number one priority. It is disappointing, but the students will be able to get a refund for the trip. Thank you to all who signed up to go. Underclassmen will automatically go next year. Thank you for your understanding.

Mr. Unterbrink would like all Seniors and their parents to be attentive to the attached list of local scholarships. The majority of these scholarships have deadlines in the spring of the year. For nearly all of these scholarships, Mr. Unterbrink has yet to receive this year’s application. Upon receipt of each of these scholarship applications, Mr. Unterbrink will be announcing them, and the criteria required to the Seniors during school.

New Tip/Safer School Hotline
With our former TIPS Line no longer active we felt the need to discover a new means to allow parents/students the ability to notify us of situations detrimental to the school or other students in an anonymous format.
An attachment below further outlines the program and how it works to benefit the school and students. The following website is the link https://saferschools.ohio.gov/content/tip_line_information, which is also included on our homepage (www.delphosstjohns.org). Students will be given information brochures in their Religion Class with further details.
Please remember that if there are any issues you would like to make us aware of our door is always open as we would love to hear from you.
Run Your Ashes Off
Ash Wednesday is right around the corner and with that comes our Prayer Service and 5K Race/Walk. All proceeds go to benefit the St. Vincent DePaul Society. A registration form is attached below, including contact information should you have any questions.

Best Lent Ever
Have you ever had a memorable lent? More importantly, have you ever had a life-changing Lent?
Attached below is an informational sheet, provided by the Dynamic Catholic and Matthew Kelly, that could answer the questions above. Please take a chance and sign-up. Who knows, it could make for the Best Lent Ever.
7th Grade History Fair
On February 2nd, the 7th Grade students will be participating in a History Fair. We are extending an invitation to all families and the community, starting at 2:10 PM and lasting until 2:50 PM. For anyone who would like to come and see the displays developed by our students and celebrate a little history.
The Junior High and High School students now have the opportunity to purchase uniform jackets/pullovers to be worn with their uniforms. Order forms will be mailed home with student report cards, as well as attached below. This is not a requirement, but just another option to go along with our existing uniform policy. There are two options for males, full zip and half zip, and they can be ordered in royal or gray. The females have the option of full zip, but can order the male half zip if they desire. We will continue to monitor a pull-over option for the girls, and make it available, should one present itself. These options come in royal and gray as well. We are excited about this new addition to our uniforms, especially for our students in the winter months!! For girls, it is a substitute for a sweater or vest, and must be worn throughout the day. For boys, who rarely wear a sweater, it provides an option for the days the building may be a little chilly.
Proceeds from all sales will benefit St. John’s.
St. John’s Tie
We are now offering, as part of the uniform, but not required, a tie option for boys. For $15.00 the boys can add a little school spirit to their uniform, picture attached below. This could also be a great gift, for birthdays, graduation, or any special occasion. If you are interested please stop in the office or call, all sale proceeds benefit St. John’s.
Good luck to all the St. John Students, that are competing this weekend in one way or another, bring home a win, as you have already made the Blue Family so proud of you.
Go Jays and God Bless,
