Newsletter for February 26th

Dear Parent(s)/Guardians(s) and Students:

This coming week we will look to celebrate 24-Hours for Lord, a one-time event inaugurated by Pope Francis, during the Year of Mercy, and held during the Third Week in Lent.  For more information please visit the link below, or contact the Ministry Center.

We would like to congratulate and wish good luck to Evyn Pohlman, Brett Vonderwell, and Justin Wieging as they compete in the District Wrestling Match at Troy this weekend.

A congratulations also goes out to the Lady Jays on a great basketball season.  Though it came to an end too soon, the girls had an excellent year, highlighted by a Sectional Championship.

Finally, we would like to wish good luck to the Boys Basketball Team as they take on Miller City tonight, in hopes of bringing home a Sectional Championship.  Go Jays.

Below is a very important event coming up in the next two weeks that I would like to draw your attention to so that you do not miss one of the opportunities to attend.

**Parent Meeting about Elementary and High School Tuition for 2016-17 School Year**

We will be having two meetings for all parents of current Kindergarten students through Eleventh Graders about our tuition structure for the 2016-17 school year.  We ask that you attend one of the following meetings that will take place in the Robert Arnzen Gymnasium, Wednesday, March 2, from 7:00-7:30 p.m. or Tuesday, March 8, from 7:00-7:30 p.m.   Your attendance is greatly appreciated as these meetings will outline some very important changes for our Schools and Parish.

Thank you for making time for one of these meetings and your continued support of St. John’s.

Weekly Calendar

Please refer to for the most up-to-date information about the happenings taking place in the Junior High and High School.

For Athletic Information please follow this link

Senior CPR Class

On March 4th, the Seniors will be completing their CPR Training and Certification here at school, during the school day.  This training will be conducted by Mrs. Cathy Harris and her husband Paul, and if the students pass their exam they will be officially CRP Certified by the American Heart Association.  This course usually runs $25.00, but will be provided to the students at no cost.

This will be a Jean Day for all Seniors, as they will be up and down on the gym floor perfecting their CPR technique.

Tobacco Free Campus
Delphos St. John’s Parish and Schools have implemented a new tobacco-free policy to create a more positive, healthy environment for students. The new policy prohibits all students, staff, volunteers, and visitors from possessing or using any tobacco products (including electronic cigarettes of any kind) in any building, facility, or vehicle owned or leased and on school grounds, athletic grounds and parking lots.

State law prohibits smoking inside school buildings, but surrounding campuses are not automatically smoke-free areas. Delphos St. John’s instituted the policy because school staff members and visitors serve as role models to students at a time when they are making choices about tobacco for themselves.

Thank you for your help and support as we being to institute this new and beneficial policy.

Attached below is information on a Free Course to help students improve their ACT Score.  Please look through attached TutorMe information for more details.  Not only is this a great opportunity for the student to improve their score, but it is free.

With a new year on the horizon, it’s time to begin thinking a little about the 2016-17 school year.  Please follow the link for information about a scholarship opportunity your children may be eligible for through the Northwest Ohio Scholarship Fund.  Remember it never hurts to try.

Local Scholarships

Mr. Unterbrink would like all Seniors and their parents to be attentive to the attached list of local scholarships.  The majority of these scholarships have deadlines in the spring of the year.  For nearly all of these scholarships, Mr. Unterbrink has yet to receive this year’s application.  Upon receipt of each of these scholarship applications, Mr. Unterbrink will be announcing them, and the criteria required to the Seniors during school.
