March 18th Newsletter

Dear Parent(s)/Guardians(s) and Students:

On Sunday, we celebrate the first joy of the season, as we celebrate Our Lord’s triumphant entrance into Jerusalem where he was welcomed by crowds worshiping him and laying down palm leaves before him.  It also marks the beginning of Holy Week, with the greatest tragedy and sorrow of the year.  Come join our celebrations throughout the week.

Though the day was a little rainy and cold, our 8th-grade students completed their Confirmation with the Bishop.  The Bishop was thoroughly impressed with our students and their dedication to the Sacrament and their Faith.  This is a testament to you the parents, their teachers, and the St. John’s community.  To know that we are all working together to achieve our goals, of Faith, Tradition, and Excellence.  We look forward to the continued Faith development of our students as they continue their journey throughout High School.

Please keep in your prayers the Junior and Senior Mission Society Members, Advisors, and Chaperones as they depart for their Appalachia Trip, this Sunday.  What a great opportunity for our students to help those in need, experience a culture they may be unfamiliar with, all the while spreading the message of God.

We would like to extend a congratulation to Evyn Pohlman who will be our Buckeye State Boys Representative and Chandler Clarkson as our alternate.  However, due to an opening through the Spencerville American Legion Chandler will be able to attend.  This is an amazing opportunity for these students, as it is rare to have two from the same school attending, but is a testament to great students here at St. John’s.  Make us proud gentlemen.

Congratulations to the Junior High on raising $95.10 for St. Jude’s during the Math-a-Thon.  It always nice to see the students helping support those in need, but also learning at the same time.

Prom Information

Attached below are the Guidelines that we will be instituting for this year’s Prom, hosted at St. John’s High School.  These guidelines must be looked over and followed to help support our position of creating an atmosphere that lives up to the Catholic Values and Beliefs we try to instill in our students on a daily basis.  If you have any questions regarding the Policy, please let me know.

Reminder – All Dresses must be submitted for approval, to gain access to Prom.  Please refer to the guidelines on how to complete this process.

It can feel good to be looked at, but remember do they really see the true you.  In dressing modest young women can be known for who they are and not what they wear.  Humility is the sentiment and modesty is how we live our lives so that God can bless us.
