April 15th Newsletter

Dear Parent(s)/Guardians(s) and Students:

As a way to continue attempting to provide the best educational experience for the students at St. John’s, we wanted to thank Wayne Campbell and his foundation, Tyler’s Light, for speaking with our students today.  The subject of Drug Abuse is often reserved for young students or a portion of society that we feel we may not associate with.  However, this could not be further from the case.  Drug Abuse can affect everyone, from the rich to the poor, the educated to the uneducated, the supportive family to the struggling family.  We cannot ignore the challenges that we see in Delphos each and every day, and need to be sure that we address these issues with our children before it is too late.  Remember that if you see anything, say something to someone, it can help save a life.

Good luck to all of our Junior Students that have decided to take the ACT on Tuesday.

Below is a little information about the Benefit Auction, Art Show, Church Camp, Local Scholarship Opportunities, a Tuition Scholarship Opportunity, College Credit Plus, Youth Group, Class Play, Service Day Opportunity, Special Teams Camp, Tuition Letters, Basketball Camp, and Prom.

College Credit Plus

The following is an update on College Credit Plus regarding deadlines for applying to the college, registering a SAFE account and completing the “Letter of Intent to Participate”.  The Ohio Department of Education has made these changes for nonpublic school students.

St. John’s students who have registered for, and intend to take, Web Page Design, Introduction to COBOL, Medical Terminology/Growth and Lifespan Development, or Computer Applications in the Workplace next school year, and wish to take the course as a College Credit Plus course, now have until Friday, April 22nd to establish a SAFE account and apply for funding.  This deadline replaces the original April 8th deadline.

We are now told that the SAFE account must be in the parent’s name, not the student’s name.  The Ohio Department of Education will allocate the College Credit Plus funding prior to May 15th.  Students who are awarded funding will receive funding award notifications through their parents’ SAFE accounts by May 15th.

The following are links to help create the account and answer any questions.

If you have any further questions please contact Mr. Unterbrink.

Prom Information

Attached below are the Guidelines that we will be instituting for this year’s Prom, hosted at St. John’s High School.  These guidelines must be looked over and followed to help support our position of creating an atmosphere that lives up to the Catholic Values and Beliefs we try to instill in our students on a daily basis.  If you have any questions regarding the Policy, please let me know.

Reminder – All Dresses must be submitted for approval, to gain access to Prom.  Please refer to the guidelines on how to complete this process.

It can feel good to be looked at, but remember do they really see the true you.  In dressing modest young women can be known for who they are and not what they wear.  Humility is the sentiment and modesty is how we live our lives so that God can bless us.
