December 19th Newsletter

Dear Parent(s)/Guardians(s) and Students:

We are beginning our Fourth Week of Advent, and what a quick week it will be.  Starting the week with a Two-Hour Delay and ending it with a 1:30 Dismissal, and there are only two days of school this week.  However, within these two days, there is so much still taking place, before we begin Christmas Break.

Tomorrow Student Council will be hosting a $2.00 Ugly Christmas Sweater Jean Day and Let’s Make a Deal Assembly, to benefit the Delphos Community Christmas Project.

We would also like to extend a big thank you to FTA/SADD, Ronnie Grothouse, and every student for all of their help in providing and transporting items for the Delphos Community Christmas Project last week.  All of this generosity will go to help those families that may not have anything this Christmas Season.

Congratulations to our three time Spelling Bee Champion, Riley Pohlman and Runner-Up Brady Kerner.  Great representatives of St. John’s.

Congratulations and thank you to Mr. Newell and the Band Students for an amazing Christmas Concert.

A few of the items below include the weekly calendar and schedule reminders, Uniform Issue, Yearbook Sale, Christmas Pageant and the 300 Club.

Uniform Issue with the Girls

Over the past few years, we have noticed a handful of girls struggling with the ability to adhere to the uniform guidelines as they relate to knee-high socks, while a good majority of their classmates have had no issue with this and we thank them and the parents for your cooperation.

However, for those girls that cannot understand that all socks must be a knee-high sock we have established what we hope is a solution.  We have contacted Lion Clothing to ask them to ensure that any St. John’s girl purchasing socks are purchasing knee high socks.  Not low-cut or ankle socks.  We have also passed a free pair of socks out to each girl that were purchased through Amazon at the link below.  We will also have pairs in the office available for sale, at $2.00 per pair.

Girls are permitted to wear any combination of knee high socks, whether purchased at Lion Clothing, Amazon, or any other retailer.  However, those socks must make every effort to reach the knee.  If a girl places their palms on their knees and they cannot reach the top of their socks or the top of the sock is more than two inches below their fingertips, they are not the correct socks and therefore the girl is out of uniform.  Beginning January 4th, any girl that does not have the correct socks will be issued a detention for uniform violation.

It may sound as if this is a drastic measure for a minor issue, but it is unfair to those girls and families that have followed and adhered to the rules to continue to do so, while others are not held accountable.

We thank you for all your help and understanding.

2016-2017 Yearbook for Sale – Great Christmas Gift Idea

Need a Christmas idea for your son or daughter?   The 2016-2017 Yearbook capturing all of your son or daughter’s memories in one lasting place is a priceless gift idea!  This year’s theme is jOURney. The yearbook staff is working hard to capture every student’s journey.

Yearbook Order Form

Win a Free Yearbook

Yearbook is trying something new to encourage students to submit pictures.  The yearbook staff works hard to capture as many people and events as they can, but they aren’t always at the same places or making the same memories as other students.  Students are encouraged to submit the pictures they are already taking.  If a student submits a picture, and the picture is used in the yearbook, their name will be entered into a contest to win a free yearbook!  Already paid?  You’ll be refunded or we can apply the payment to next year’s book (your choice).  Your son or daughter will be receiving more information about how to submit pictures in their religion classes.  Yearbooks are a great and lasting treasure, but why pay when you can win one for free!  Contest will only take place if at least twenty students participate.  Encourage your son or daughter to submit their images to have a chance to win!

Christmas Pageant

Everyone involved in the 4:30 PM Christmas Eve pageant has a practice in church at 1:45 PM on Tuesday, December 20th.  It will last approximately one hour.  Please have children picked up by 3 PM. Those involved include the high school youth choir, actors, and narrators, grade school children’s choir, angels, and shepherds.  Thank you for your help.

The 300 Club

The St John’s Athletic Booster – 300 Club has a few openings for the new year starting January 1, 2017. The yearly membership dues are $60.00.   If you are interested in becoming a 300 Club member, please contact Jeff & Julie Rode at 419-230-3485 for more details.

Have a great week.

Go Jays and God Bless,
