Dear Parent(s)/Guardians(s) and Students:
With the year continuing to wind down and a number of events taking place from now until the end of the year, please do not hesitate to call/email/stop by if you have any questions about anything. We want to ensure we are ending the year on a positive and productive note.
Thank you to everyone, especially Mrs. Hellman, Mrs. Gillespie, and the Junior Class and their Parents, that helped to make Prom and Post-Prom such a success.
Congratulations to Mr. Newell and the 5th through 12th grade Band, as they concluded the year with a wonderful Spring Concert.
Congratulations to Coach Jackson, his staff, and the baseball team on their first tournament victory. Good luck tomorrow (5/17) verse Minister.

Gaga Pit Fundraiser
Please see the attachment below in regards to a fundraiser to help with the building and addition of a Gaga Pit for our school and students.
New LED Sign
You may or may not have noticed that we have been blessed with a generous donation from the Golf Outing Committee and all of those that participate, the Class of 1966, and the Class of 2016, in purchasing a new LED Message Board for our school.
Without this gift, we would not be able to purchase such an item and continue the development and upgrading of our Parish and School.
We look forward to utilizing this sign to help recognize our students and keeping everyone informed of the great things happening at St. John’s.
Underclass Exam Schedule
We are going to be trying something new this year, in regards to our Underclass Exam Schedule. Attached below will be the schedule we will be using for the last week of school. We hope the change helps bring closure to the end of the school year and helps to better utilize the time and attention of our students and teachers.
If students do not have transportation, this is not an issue, as staff are still required to be at school for the full day, and will help monitor any students without transportation home.
Seniors Talking to 8th Graders
This week a group of Seniors is volunteering their time to talk with the 8th Graders about preparing for High School. Their talk will focus on various topics, including faith formation, academics, extra-curricular activities/organizations, and what to expect when entering High School.
All in the hopes of hearing a message from the Seniors that ignites a passion and better understanding of the challenges and rewards High School will hold.
This coming Sunday the Vocal Music Department Spring Concert and Awards will take place at 5:00 PM at St. John’s Church. The Junior High and High School Choirs will perform and we will honor the Seniors and their parents with flowers and the singing of the DSJ Alma Mater. As is a tradition for the Spring Concert, former members of the High School Choir, under the direction of Mrs. Slawinski are invited to join the choirs as they sing “Just a Single Voice” and music will be provided for any Alumni that wish to sing. At the conclusion of the concert, the Choir awards will be given out by Mrs. Slawinski, DSJ Choir Director.
Suicide Education/Prevention Talk
Continuing this week we will have a specialist from the Partnership for Violence Free Families talking with our students, discussing with them a topic that is overlooked or difficult to discuss. The attached “Letter to Parents” explains the program the students will be receiving. We hope this helps our students better understand and help themselves or those that may need someone to speak up for them.
Due to scheduling issues, we were unable to provide this for our Juniors or Seniors.
Mark your calendars!
The St John’s Athletic Boosters will be hosting a Purse Bingo Fund Raiser on August 19, 2017. This year we will be having a new opportunity for businesses, families, and friends to get involved in raising money for this event. We are looking for “Purse Sponsors,” you can do this in “Honor or Memory of Someone Special”, it could be from “The Graduating Class of ….”, “Remembering an Event at St John’s”, or as “Advertising for your Business”. Please contact Julie Rode at 419-230-3485 if you would like more information on becoming a sponsor.
Thank you for your support.
